According to a Merill Lynch analyst, a Microsoft/Yahoo merger would give the new company a 41% market share of internet searches, compared to Google's 44%.

Considering Google's recent encroachment into Microsoft's territory with Google Spreadsheets and a partnership with Adobe, this may be the best strategy for Microsoft, says the analyst, Justin Post.
